Hi, I’m Suhayl and I’m please to be part of the GamCare Youth Outreach team to educate young people around gambling related harm. I am passionate about working with Black and Minority Ethnic groups (BAME), creating conversations and breaking barriers and stigma around gambling related harms.
My lived experience of gambling related harm and journey in overcoming many cultural and religious barriers will only serve to empower young people, particularly from the BAME community, to make healthy and informed choices.
I have significant experience in co-developing frameworks for engaging young people in education and discussing what can often be deemed as difficult and controversial topics. However, our beliefs are ‘sunlight is the best cleanser’ and the old question about moral responsibility ‘if not us, who?’
